Default Superior salvage vs normal

my question is, if im trying to collect common materials and hypothetically if i were to salvage a longs word for iron, would the superior salvage kit give more or less common materials over a normal salvage kit?

A superior or expert salvage kit does not affect the amount of material you get from a salvage. It only provides a chance of a rare material instead, if the object contains one. You don't get a choice as to whether you get a common or rare material when you use a superior or expert kit, but you have to take whichever you get.

A Measure for Measure inscription or an innate "Highly Salvageable" mod does give you more materials, and it will give you extra common materials even if you're using a normal kit.

i know theres a chance of rare material and was wondering if i would waste money buying superiour kits for common materials if a normal salvage kit would give just as many common materials

Yes, it would be a waste of money to use superior, since you won't get anything extra from it. If you want common materials, always use a normal kit.

Also, a Superior kit has no advantage over an Expert kit, and yet, costs more per use.

I disagree... sup salvagekit = 100 uses that takes only 1 slot in you inventory. To get 100 uses with expert salvagekits you need 4 kits (and slots). To me 100 uses and 1 slot = advantage.

I prefer the convenience of the superior kits and I don't use anything else unless I'm strictly after common mats. However, my characters have accumulated so many reward tokens (Kournan Coins, Imperial Commendations, etc., etc., etc.) that I have never paid for a superior kit and don't expect I'll ever have to. What's not to love about superior kits under those circumstances?

That's just silly. To get 100 uses with Expert kits, you only need 1 slot, just 4 times. (Hint - you keep replacing them. )

It's the replacing part that I have problems with... It's just so annoying to run out of uses all the time, hence why I always go sup kits. To me convenience is worth 100g.

As for the OP, use normal kits if you want common materials as you always will get common materials from them.

If all you want is common materials, then use only normal kits. If you want some rare materials as well as common, use expert or superior.

As pretty much everyone has said there's a difference between Normal Salvage Kit vs Expert/Superior but I dont think there is difference between Expert and Superior (if you wanted a chance of getting rare materials that is).

Only difference (AFAIK) between Expert and Superior is the quantity i.e. Expert has 25 and Superior has 100. Personally I just use normal for common material and Expert for rest because i dont see the point of paying an extra 200g so i spend less time replacing it. I generally do all my salvage at the trader anyway so if i need to replace it, its not really a big deal.

FYI as sad as i am i worked out how much it costs per salvage for each kit:

Normal = 2g
Expert = 8g
Superior = 10g

This assumes the kits are bought with gold.
